Location sharing preferences chosen during registration

Geographic location data, based on your chosen mode:
Continuous location (if you chose always-on tracking)
Location at app open (if you chose check-in mode)
No automatic location (if you chose manual search)
Device type and operating system version
App usage logs and crash reports
Referral code (if you reached the site through an invite link)
We do not collect sensitive information such as financial data, identity documents, or health information.
2. How we use your information
We use your data to:
Create and manage your account
Show you active searches in places you've been, based on your chosen location mode
Generate mutual matches between users who were in the same place at the same time
Send you notifications about matches, connection requests, and messages
Improve app features and your overall experience
Send communications about the waitlist and app launch
Manage the referral system and reward levels
We never sell your data to third parties.
3. Location and privacy
Location is at the heart of EyeContact. That's why we built a three-level system that lets you choose how much to share:
Always-on location - The system logs the places you've been to show you active searches in those locations.
Location on app open only - Your location is saved only when you open the app. You can see searches in places where you've checked in.
No location - No automatic tracking. You can manually search for a place, with a limit of one search per day.
You can change your preference at any time in your phone settings. Features update in real time.
Your profile remains invisible to everyone until a mutual match occurs. No one can search for you, find you, or see you without having noticed you in the same place at the same time.
4. How we share information
We share your data only in the following limited cases:
With service providers
For hosting, analytics, and crash reporting — all under strict confidentiality agreements.
For legal compliance
If required by law, we may share necessary information.
We never share your personal or location data with advertisers.
5. Matches and connections
EyeContact's matching system is designed to protect your identity:
Your full profile is only visible after the other person has taken an intentional action (watching a video or making a payment)
No user can contact you directly without you accepting their connection request
Chat unlocks only after mutual consent
You can decline any request without the other person being notified of the rejection
6. Your rights
You have the right to:
Access your personal data
Request deletion of your account and all associated data
Update or correct your information
Change your location preferences at any time
Withdraw consent to data processing
Receive a copy of your data in a readable format

7. Data retention
We retain your data only for as long as necessary to provide the service.
Listings expire automatically after 48/72 hours from publication and are deleted.
If you delete your account or request deletion, all your data is permanently removed within 30 days.

Your data is stored on secure, encrypted servers. Only essential team members can access anonymized data to improve the service. We follow industry-standard protection measures.
9. Minors
EyeContact is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you become aware of a minor's account, please contact us immediately.
